It was Italy that hosted my first adventures overseas. I spent my Spring 2009 semester in Orvieto living in a stone apartment attached to a hidden courtyard. We played soccer on the edge of the ancient hillside town everyday as the sun set, drank wine while socializing over plates of cheese, and did not spend countless nights awake in the confines of studio. Our objectives were to design through the use of our hands, become immersed in this foreign culture, and enjoy our daily siestas. We were incredibly successful.
“For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes
turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.”
-Leonardo Da Vinci
